ja, die Bilder, die sie heute im Fernsehen gezeigt haben, sahen auch wirklich nicht gut aus.

Highway 120 temporarily closed west of Yosemite National Park

Beginning at noon on Wednesday, August 28, the Tioga Road (Highway 120 through the park) is closed from Crane Flat to Yosemite Creek. The only access to the Tuolumne Meadows area is via Highway 120 from near Lee Vining.
Crane Flat, Hodgdon Meadow, Tamarack Flat, Yosemite Creek, and White Wolf Campgrounds and Hetch Hetchy Backpackers' Campground are closed.
White Wolf is closed, including the lodge, campground, road, and trails originating from White Wolf.

Wie gerade auf dem Radiosender Bayern 3 in den Nachrichten vorgetragen wurde, sind laut einem Sprecher der Einsatzleitung 30 % unter Kontrolle.
Bis die Brände komplett erlöschen sind bzw. unter Kontrolle sind, soll es noch gut 2 Wochen dauern.
Bis jetzt soll ein Fläche von 780 Quadratkilometern abgerannt sein.
Ein Fläche so groß wie München, Nürnberg und Regensburg zusammen

Wir haben heute unseren Aufenthalt dort vorzeitig abgebrochen und sind weiter gereist.
Der Upper Pine war heute Mittag nahezu vereinsamt, der Wind hat gedreht und man konnte im Tal keinen der Berge mehr sehen.
Viele Ranger liefen mit Mundschutz durch den Park. Hier vor Ort gehen sie davon aus, dass dieser Zustand noch einige Tage anhalten kann.

Hallo Kathi,
Danke für die Infos!! Wir sind in ca. 3 Wochen im Upper pine... Aber bis dahin kann sich ja noch viel tun.
Als Alternative würden wir dann im Sequoia absteigen..
weiterhin einen tollen Aufenthalt hoffentlich ohne Qualm!!
