RE: USA wollen Grenzen wieder öffnen

Hallo

U.S. citizens and Lawful Permanent Residents (LPRs) who are not fully vaccinated must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken one (1) day before their flight. This is more stringent than the prior, 3-day testing rule for unvaccinated travelers.

U.S. citizens and LPRs who are fully vaccinated must present airlines with proof of vaccination AND a negative COVID-19 test taken within three (3) days before their flight.

All non-immigrant, foreign national air travelers to the United States—with very limited exceptions—are now required to BOTH be fully vaccinated AND provide documentation of a negative viral test result taken within three (3) days of the flight’s departure, along with the proof of vaccination. There is no longer any need for foreign travelers to obtain a national interest exception to travel to the United States.

Children younger than two years of age (any nationality) are not required to provide a negative COVID-19 test or proof of vaccination. The requirements for children between the ages of two and seventeen include a pre-departure COVID test, but also depend on whether or not they are accompanying a vaccinated parent/ legal guardian; please see “what are the testing requirements for children?” on this FAQ page

Exceptions to either the testing requirement (for all travelers) or the vaccination requirement (for non-U.S. citizen travelers) will be considered on an extremely limited basis.  Please contact the U.S. Consulate General in Frankfurt at FrankfurtVisaInquiries@state.gov to inquire about the process to request an exception.

The CDC has a helpful online wizard here where travelers can confirm exactly what they need to board a flight to the United States. You can also visit the CDC webpage on International Travel for more detailed information, including exceptions and FAQs about the vaccination and testing requirements for air passengers.

Ich hoffe, das hilft dem einen oder anderen weiter.

Liebe Grüße

Claudia
